My sister called me a few days ago and asked me if I could help her. Of course I said yes.
My mother married a very nice guy a few years after she divorced my father. They lived a few years in Oslo before moving to Sweden.
After a bit of research, they ended up in a small town called Åmål.
Well, on January 1st, 2023, my mother passed away after many years of Alzheimers and that left her husband alone with no family left.
We, my sister and I, decided that we're now his new family and are now doing what we can to take care of him when he needs us.
After he'd spent Christmas and New Years with her and her husband, they both travelled back to Sweden and my sister rented a car that had to be delivered back to the rental company yesterday at 4PM and this is where I come in.
Our uncle lives nearby and he picked me up at 9 in the morning and we headed for Sweden. I picked up the rental car and headed right back to Norway.
It was a bit slippery on the road, so I took it easy and also saw a few cars that had crashed on the side of the road.
The trip took a bit longer than expected, so I was able to deliver the car back 2 hours later than they had agreed on. Normally, my sister would have had to pay for an extra day, but I was lucky enough to meet a sweet lady at the rental company who helped us by registering the delivery at 4:15 instead of 6:15.
A quick train ride from the airport and a short bus ride and a great walk in the cold, fresh air, I was back home at 8 in the evening.
A good day on many fronts. Met my uncle, met my lovely sister and met my late mother's husband.
I am grateful.
